Publications such as MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) and Emerging Infectious Diseases are available.
- CenterWatch: Clinical Trials Listing Service
- Web site for patients and research professionals. Lists clinical trials by medical area; has a notification service to inform you when a new trial is added, has background information on clinical research and profiles of centers that conduct it. The Drug Information section lists drug therapies newly approved by the FDA.
- Genetics Home Reference
- The National Library of Medicine site designed to help consumers with research into genetic disorders. Search for diseases by name of the genetic condition, by gene or by chromosome. A section on newborn screening is available. The site also has a lot of helpful information about the science and terminology of genetics.
- Hardin Meta Directory of Internet Health Sources
- Arranged topically. List of links to the most frequently cited web sources related to health topics. Compiled by the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa. This site is particularly good for finding medical images and pictures.
- Health on the Net (HON) Foundation
- A non-governmental organization headquartered in Switzerland. HON is known for its HONcode certification process. An HON certified medical website shows it has met certain standards for reliability and credibility. The site also has a search feature for patients and information for medical professionals and web publishers.
- Healthcare.gov
- The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed on March 23, 2010. This web portal, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides information about understanding the new law and has resources for individuals and employers. Includes help finding insurance options and determining which small businesses qualify for tax credits.
- Healthfinder
- A gateway site to consumer health information provided by the U.S. government. Site includes personal health tools, a health encyclopedia, the latest in health news, and news and information in Spanish.
- HealthyNJ
- Produced by the University Libraries of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), this site has sections on health and wellness, health in New Jersey, diseases and conditions, along with reference materials.
- Household Products Database
- The National Library of Medicine database provides detailed health and safety information on household products and ingredients. MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) are also available. Household products include auto products, lawn products, pet products, art/crafts products, and cosmetics.
- How's Your Health New Jersey?
- Focus on patient safety and sources to find information on doctors and hospitals. Includes survey designed for New Jersey residents to become better informed about their individual health and health care needs. Sponsored by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute.

- A consumer oriented site produced by professional societies within the lab community. Look up information by test or by disease/condition. The site also includes in-depth articles on relevant issues and recommended screening advisories from a wide variety of organizations.

- Health information from the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Sections include Diseases and Conditions, Symptoms, Drugs and Supplements, Tests and Procedures, and Healthy Living.
- Med Help
- Nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people find support for their medical questions. Medical forums (also available for pet health issues) on many conditions. Post questions to doctors or to other patients.
- Medicine Net
- A network of physician educators dedicated to providing quality medical information for the public. Includes diseases and conditions, a medical dictionary, symptom information, medication information, and medical news.
- MedlinePlus
- A comprehensive consumer health web site provided by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. Sections of this site include Health Topics, Drug Information, Medical Encyclopedia (illustrated), Dictionary, News, Directories, Interactive Health Tutorials and Surgery Videos. The site is also available in Spanish. A highly praised resource.
- Merck Manuals
- Detailed, professional level, online medical library. Search by keyword, alphabetical index, section, or symptom.
- PubMed
- Provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), this premier database provides free access to MEDLINE, NLM's database of citations and abstracts in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, healthcare systems, and preclinical sciences. PubMed has over 19 million citations, and includes publications dating back to 1948.
- Revolution Health
- Comprehensive consumer health site from the Revolution Health Group. Includes tools to find doctors, dentists, and senior housing options by geographic area. Also has online forums for specific conditions.
- Your Disease Risk
- This site has a tool to calculate your personal risk for diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, stroke, and several kinds of cancers.
