- The USDA has replaced the Food Pyramid with MyPlate. Go to ChooseMyPlate to find dietary guidelines, sample recipes, healthy eating tips, and food and calorie tracking tools.
- Dietary Reference Intakes
- The USDA's Food and Nutrition Information Center page on Dietary Reference Intake values of the following: Estimated Average Requirements, Recommended Dietary Allowances, Adequate Intakes, and Tolerable Upper Intake Levels. Tables of these values are provided for elements, macronutrients, and vitamins.
- Dietary Supplements Labels Database
- A searchable database from the U.S. National Library of Medicine on dietary supplements sold in the U.S. Search by brand, active ingredient or manufacturer. Links to PubMed for information on adverse effects or mechanisms of action.
- Food and Nutrition Information Center
- The USDA web site has links to information for a wide range of nutritional topics. Access to its databases covering topics such as dietary supplements and food safety.
- Healthy NJ - Diet, Food, and Nutrition
- The HealthyNJ site from UMDNJ (University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey) provides a multitude of resources on many aspects of nutrition. This site also has links to New Jersey-specific resources and other recommended web sites.
- Micronutrient Information Center - Vitamins, Minerals, etc.
- This resource from the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, contains detailed information about vitamins and minerals. This information includes the function of the micronutrient, intake recommendations, food sources, role in disease, deficiency, and toxicity. The site also provides information about selected other nutrients, selected phytochemicals, and foods (ex. tea, nuts, legumes).

- A service of the National Agricultural Library. Provides abundant information on food, weight management, meal planning, and food assistance programs.
- Nutrition and Healthy Eating - Mayo Clinic
- The Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research has very clear and informative health sites. This site has sections on healthy diets, cooking, menus and shopping strategies as well as other information.
- The Nutrition Source - Knowledge for Healthy Eating
- Excellent site from the Harvard School of Public Health's Department of Nutrition. Focus is on a variety of nutritional topics. The editorial board of this site includes professors of nutrition, epidemiology, immunology, and cardiovascular disease prevention.
- Weight Control Information Network- NIDDK
- A very helpful and comprehensive site from the National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) provides publications on a variety of topics related to nutrition, physical fitness, and reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. Topics include weight loss surgery, binge eating disorder, healthy eating and physical activity across the lifespan, and helping your overweight child, among many others.

- The AHA site includes information on weight management, stress management, physical activity, quitting smoking and healthy cooking.

- A biochemical look at energy production in muscles from the National Space Biomedical Research Institute.

- This comprehensive site from the Centers for Disease Control covers topics such as the importance of physical activity, getting started on a program, making activity part of your life, strength training for older adults, measuring physical activity intensity, and resources for health professionals such as data and statistics.
- Physical Activity and Health: A Report of the Surgeon General (1996)
- This is a lengthy report with detailed information about physiolgic responses to exercise, and the effects of exercise on health and disease.

- This site has links to physical activity and dietary guidelines. Links to additional resources and grant information.
